Passwords are issued so as to restrict individuals or groups from entering restrcited areas of the system. This will help:

safeguard data integrity from hackers safeguard confidentiality safeguard computers from virus and worms prevent data theft

 

 

Security levels

Security levels/ access rights are used to:

customize end user settings restrict ability of the user to access parts of the system

 

Clearly managers and a range of people will have information on their systems which they do not want everyone to see. Access rights or access priveleges restricts the ability of a user to this information unless they have the appropriate passwords.
