Knowledge Management: Emerging perspectives

To the user, a distributed system should look exactly linke a Nondistrubuted system. This has also been referred to as Rule Zero, which was presented in a paper in 1990.
"Date, C.J. 'An Introduction to Database Systems', 1995, p596"
In other words the users of a distributed system would use the system as if it were not distributed. It should be seamless and they should not be aware of when they are accessing data elsewhere. The problems the users face should be the same as the problems faced by users of a non distributed system.
It is important to understand that these twelve pronciples/ objectives are not independent of each other, an exhaustive list or all bear equal significance. Various users will place varying degrees of importance to various objectives depending on the context of the system.
